PRODUCT REVIEW

I brought this chicken sausage from Sprouts in Thousand Oaks, CA.

I love trying all forms if sausage, especially if they're gourmet. These were large links and I can see chopped spinach sprinkled throughout the sausage.

I wasn't sure how much it would shrink after cooking but I estimated that 1 link is a decent serving for 1 person.

They smelled delicious as they cooked but left a lot fond (burnt pieces) in the pan because as they cooked, it oozed liquid. I'm guessing the liquid was from the spinach. In the beginning, the sausages were being steamed instead of being fried because of the excess liquid. After 5 minutes, I tossed the excess liquid, added a little more olive oil and finished frying them.

I wanted a healthy & hearty dish so I decided to make sautéed vegetables and toss the sausage in the mix. I placed the sausage aside to cool & then sliced them in small pieces.

I sautéed zucchini, yellow squash, & cherry tomatoes in olive oil until browned & the tomatoes were blistered. I added the sausage and fresh chopped garlic until the sausage & garlic were browned. I finished it off by seasoning it Himalayan Salt.

Voila! My healthy dish for today. The chicken sausage was tasty but be careful not to over cook it because the texture can become rubbery (I think when it steamed it & then I fried after is what cause the change in texture). But it was a nice compliment to the sautéed vegetables. This was a great entree dish for my lunch but you can serve this as s side dish as well.

The flavor was a bit salty and I believe that was from the feta cheese (I didn't use a lot of salt) & I didn't taste the spinach even though I can see it. Overall, its a tasty sausage.
